Publishing/Publicity Assistant
Untreed Reads (http://www.untreedreads.com), an innovative ebook publishing company, is seeking a tech-savvy assistant to help in promoting our titles online. We’ll write the copy, you’ll help us get the word out. Some basic HTML experience is necessary. Marketing mindset a plus. Experience working with ebooks is even better. And if you know EPUB, we’ll be thrilled. May need help with other tasks in the future if you’re qualified, interested, and we like working together. Details on current request below—along with possible future needs. This is a contract position for approximately 30 hours per month to start. Almost all of the work can be done from home, with intermittent in-person meetings. First two needs listed below are most important. I’ll reply to those responses first, and the others a bit later. Please email us your experience and interest. Thank you! CURRENT NEEDS 1. Publicizing New Releases Once we create a blog post for a new release, it will need to be reposted on all of the sites where we do New Release info (currently about 20 sites). For the most part, this is simply cut-and-paste from the original document. However, sometimes something may need to be changed in the wording to be appropriate for where you're posting (i.e., mentioning on Kindleboards to use the links to help support Kindleboards). These need to go out within one or two days from release. The estimated time needed to post the publicity in all places is approximately 1–1.5 hours per title, and we are estimating approx. 20 titles per month. So, about 20–30 hours per month. 2. Marketing Occasionally, our titles will receive reviews or our authors will be interviewed somewhere. It's necessary for us to post that to the blog, plus repost to all of the same places used when Publicizing New Releases. We are anticipating a time commitment of probably no more than 10 hours a month for this. We do run promotions occasionally, and those too will need to be marketed. Also will want help creating a presence on new sites we’re not on yet. We’ll identify those sites—and welcome your input/thoughts/suggestions also. DOWN THE ROAD 3. Digital File Posting Once digital files and information are created, it all has to be uploaded and posted to the sites where we have direct contracts. We would provide procedures for each of the sites we post to, but we need someone who is experienced and comfortable enough with technology to navigate through the different procedures. The estimated time needed to post a title in all retailers/distributors is approximately 1.5–2 hours per title. No special HTML skill is needed. Experience with EPUB preferred. These don't all happen at the same time, but are released over the course of 30 days. So one week may be heavier than another. Approx. 40 hours per month. 4. Sales Tracking and Royalty Statements Sales figures from distributors and retailers are reported in a multitude of formats, accessed in different ways (mostly online), and are released at different times. Will want help tracking sales for internal accounting, as well as preparing royalty statements for authors. No bookkeeping experience necessary, but need to be extremely organized and detail oriented, with a comfort using Excel. Though not necessary, experience with QuickBooks Pro or QuickBooks is a big plus, and in the future will want someone to take over the bookkeeping aspects of the business. Thank you!

Web Developer for short-term project with Startup (SF Bay Area)
We’re a lean, mean 24 month old bootstrapped startup with great market traction. We’re a leader in a new space of business to business software for small businesses. We’re looking for a strong, php web developer to work on a part-time project redefining our web presence for the launch of our new product. Us - a tight-knit team with diverse backgrounds and nationalities who have banded together to take on a challenge that will change the world if successful. We’re the underdog; our biggest competitor has millions of dollars to spend, yet we believe we can be bigger and better than them. You - firstly someone who likes to go the extra mile to please the end-user. Someone who doesn’t want to waste the time they spend at work but challenge themselves and grow. Relatively out-going and comfortable expressing your ideas and opinions. An expert web developer with deep PHP and javascript experience. Familiarity with jQuery, NetBeans and Unfuddle would be helpful. And did we mention you have to have proven experience developing websites? You should be located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role is a part-time position, compensated with equity. We’re flexible on how involved you get, when you work and from where. But let’s discuss all of that up front! The project will likely last about 4 weeks and probably take about 15 hours a week. Of course, there’s potential for a longer term engagement too. In addition to equity, we’ll share our connections, our hard-earned experience and, if you get into this with an open mind, we will surely find other ways we can help you in the future. If you're interested…email us. If you're kind of interested….that's ok, email us with your questions If you're not really interested, but maybe a little intrigued….that's ok too, email us anyway If you're not interested, email and tell us what would make you interested! P.S. We’re also hiring a PHP developer. Interested? Search craigslist for ‘PHP Developer for short-term project with Startup’
